St Francis as the Pope’s patron
The Telegraph 22-3-2013
The new Pope, who has taken the name Francis, the saint, said something interesting at his inaugural Mass last Tuesday, St Joseph’s day.
The “vocation”, he said to “protect creation” (as St Joseph, a working man, had protected the young Jesus) is “not just something involving us Christians alone; it also has a prior dimension which is simply human, involving everyone”.
This means, “protecting all creation, the beauty of the created world… as St Francis of Assisi showed us”.
