Why Syrians support Bashar al Assad

Why Syrians support Bashar al Assad
By Tim Anderson, Pravda 30.09.2014

The sudden reversion of Washington to a ‘war on terror’ pretext for intervention in Syria has confused western audiences. For three years they watched ‘humanitarian intervention’ stories, which poured contempt on the Syrian President’s assertion that he was fighting foreign backed terrorists. Now the US claims to be leading the fight against those same terrorists.

De-Baathification in Iraq

A Bitter Legacy: Lessons of De-Baathification in Iraq
Miranda Sissons and Abdulrazzaq Al-Saiedi
ICTJ – Justice, Truth, Dignity

Iraq’s de-Baathification process is the most current example of large-scale, politically based dismissals. Yet factual information about de-Baathifi cation is scarce and for good reason.
From its inception in 2003, de-Baathifi cation was a deeply flawed process. Ineffective and incoherent, it polarized Iraqi politics and contributed to severe instability in the Iraqi military and government—not just in the first flush of regime change, but extending as far as the parliamentary elections of 2010, some seven years later.

Interview with Gaddafi

Play ‘An Interview with Qaddafi’ opens in London
Libya Herald, 8 June 2014

gaddafi2011A new play now showing at a London theatre sets out to tell a different story of the 2011 revolution, claiming Muammar Qaddafi was a benign figure and the NATO intervention as a capitalist conspiracy revolving around the World Bank.
In An Interview with Qaddafi, playwright Reggie Adams takes an antagonistic approach to the revolution…
In his tale, struggling journalist Bellamy Johan heads out to cover the revolution at the suggestion of a ex-patriate Libyan neighbour… Johan pleads with his editor back in London to “get the truth out” about the revolution but she retorts that he is an idealist and a dinosaur for believing Qaddafi’s words.
In the final interview and penultimate scene of the play, the character of Qaddafi says:
Forces have conspired against my country…for 40 years I fought for my people. I liberated the country from imperialists. I have failed in this regard, I have failed the people.”
As he is dragged away by his female bodyguard, Qaddafi shouts out: “Capitalism will triumph over democracy…

Leaked phone call on Ukraine lays bare
Washington’s gangsterism
Bill Van Auken, World Socialist Website, 10-2-2014

victoria-nulandThe US media has shown remarkably little interest in the tape of a telephone call between Victoria Nuland, the State Department’s top official on Europe and Eurasia, and the US ambassador to Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt, which was posted on YouTube and became the subject of international controversy…
What coverage has been provided has mainly focused on Ms. Nuland’s use of the decidedly undiplomatic phrase “Fuck the EU” in spelling out Washington’s attitude to the role being played by its European partners in the crisis that has gripped Ukraine for nearly three months…

American Jews & Race Purity

American jews &
the purity of the jewish race

YNet News, 13-11-2013

“So now let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives and their children, according to the counsel of my lord and of those who tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.” (Ezra 10:3)

The purity or race is viewed and labelled today in most of Christendom as “racist.” And any White person who stands for racial purity is considered ungodly.
However, God’s Word clarifies the laws and examples for His covenant people to obey. We must hold fast to the practice of separation unto our own race in marriage, church, and nation. To do otherwise is an abomination in God’s sight!  Laurence Blanchard, in The Great White Desert

Miracles Not Allowed

Syria militants spreading Islamophobia
Press TV, Friday Nov 1, 2013

A senior Iranian Sunni cleric says foreign-backed Takfiri militants operating inside Syria are spreading Islamophobia across the world, Press TV reports. In an interview with Press TV on Thursday, Molavi Abdolhamid Ismaeelzahi described the militants fighting against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad as “extremist deviants.”

“By resorting to violence and extremism, not only do Takfiri insurgents stir hatred within the Muslim world but they also turn non-Muslims against Muslims,” he said.
The cleric said these groups seek to monopolize Islam by categorizing everyone else as non-believers. He further called on all Takfiri groups to accept rationalism and the true teachings of Islam, and renounce violence and extremism.

Female teachers must cover face says Grand Mufti
By Aimen Eljali, Libya Herald 13-10-2013

LIBYA: The Grand Mufti, Sheikh Sadik Al-Ghariani, has issued a fatwa saying that female teachers in schools and colleges must cover their faces if they are teaching males who have reached puberty.
He made the ruling following a request for advice from the Ministry of Education on the issue. It had said that some female teachers were veiling their faces while giving lessons but it felt that this was having a negative impact on students’ understanding because, by not seeing the teacher’s face, they were not able to interact and properly lean. It asked for a fatwa telling female teachers to remove their veil inside the classroom while teaching.

Is Zionism Justice?

The nature of peacemaking according to Netanyahu
By Haviv Rettig Gur, Times of Israel October 7, 2013

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered an aggressive, seemingly petulant speech at Bar-Ilan University.
Between Holocaust references and criticism of Palestinian leaders past and present, he demanded that the Palestinian Authority recognize not only the unassailable fact of Israel’s existence, but the historic right of the Jews to have their own sovereign state in this land. As one critic suggested derisively, he demanded that the Palestinians become Zionists before peace can be achieved.
Only then will the current round of peace talks be “significant” and have “a real chance at success,” Netanyahu explained. …

Vladimir Putin: “God created us equal”

Putin  chooses to play the peacemaker. And why not?
By William Pfaff, Truthdig 11-9-2013

Barack Obama should be thanking Vladimir Putin for getting him out of a dilemma that would have ruined his presidency.
His attack on Syria, as it was (and is) programmed,  would have been or will be no “shot across the bow.”
The plan is to “degrade” Syria’s entire military and supporting infrastructure, so as to tip the civil war’s balance—as Baghdad was “degraded” in 2003. It would make the civil war far worse, with thousands more dead, by triggering a rebel offensive, covertly supported by Saudi Arabia and Qatar, to take Damascus (or its ruins). …
Mr. Putin currently offers Obama the attractive role of a warrior chief whose threats so frightened the world as to force the sequestering and destruction of Syrian chemical weapons. It has brought a wide international and U.N. intervention potentially capable of forcing a settlement conference (“Geneva II”), possibly halting the civil war and its multiple threats to the region. Mr. Putin himself chooses to play the peacemaker. And why not?

A Crook, a Zionist and an Old Spy

Washington Is Pursuing Risky Regime Change in Syria
By Ted Galen Carpenter, CATO 6-9-2013

In the days before President Obama retreated from his arrogant, unconstitutional stance that he could order missile strikes on Syria without congressional passage of even a vague resolution of approval, much less the required declaration of war, administration officials insisted that the goal of such strikes was merely to punish Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad for the use of chemical weapons, not carry out regime change. That rationale was, and remains, profoundly illogical—and less than candid.
